ProMediaGear PLX3T Universal L-Bracket Overview
The ProMediaGear PLX3T Universal L-Bracket is perfect for cameras with an articulated screen. It fits various camera sizes regardless of the brand as long as it does not have a vertical grip. You can attach it to either a full-frame or a crop-sensor camera.
In addition, this bracket is compatible with Arca-Swiss clamps. This means you can use it with any tripod or monopod from other brands. But, it is best used with ProMediaGear carbon fiber tripods.
Moreover, ProMediaGear uses aircraft-grade T6061 Aluminum for this bracket. It is lightweight and durable. Plus, it has a black-anodized finish too.
There are two parts to this L-bracket. The vertical plate extends to fit the camera body. Unlike other brackets, the vertical part extends further to free up the cable ports. It is also offset to make way for the articulating screen. Besides that, the battery compartment remains accessible.
Lastly, this bracket has an integrated QD camera strap port. The SS2 version is currently end-of-life. With the right attachments, you can convert your camera to a tiny rig.
Despite the universal compatibility, cameras with battery grips do not work with the PLX3T. The vertical part is too short for the added height of the grip. However, the ProMediaGear PLX4T Universal L-Bracket is available for the same price.
- Removable strap loop
- Allen wrench 5/32 inch, for camera mounting, and other for stop screws.
- Weight: 12 ounces 340 grams
- Dimensions: 4.1 x 1.5 x 4.2 in (104 x 38 x 107 mm)
This offset design is great. Yes, it leaves plenty of clearance for a flip out screen, but it also makes it really easy to get to the camera ports. An added bonus is how well it works as a left side handle. The forward offset leaves plenty of room for fingers and improves the overall balance when I have a heavy flash on a Boomerang bolted to the other side of the camera plate. But wait, there's more--the cold shoe is just right for mounting a remote trigger out of the way. Did I mention it also works well as an L-bracket? :-)
I was going to wait for the Really Right Stuff (RRS) team to complete their design of an L-Bracket for this camera but happened to see a You-tube video (Photographer Todd Korol) where this product was used on a Hasselblad X1Dii and liked the off-set design and after and email exchange with ProMediaGear experts, was assured it would fit my X2D100C - and it does! Battery access and card access no problem and the unit does not interfere with the tilt up screen on the camera back. This bracket is definitely of the highest quality construction and materials and as a bonus it can be fitted with a number of accessories. Very happy with my purchase and will consider other ProMediaGear in the future.

The entire purpose of an l bracket is convenience. Switching for landscape to portrait without having to totally readjust your tripod. However, with tethered shooting, this has been a nightmare as the port leads straight into the tripod head or being able to just sneak the cable by but possibly torquing the port too much. Tether plates still don’t remedy this. The tether blocks are cumbersome and one more piece in the puzzle. I had experimented with rigging various pieces together to offset the tether port to no avail. Enter, promediagear. This is the perfect solution for these tethered shooting woes. This tool is so convenient for my tethered workflow. It actually alleviates some of the voices in my head as I dont have to worry about the tether port being torqued. Great tool. Pick it up. Never worry again. Also how convenient is it having the tool directly on the bracket itself?! The right tool for the job.
This bracket ticks all the boxes for my Canon EOSR. Solid construction, perfect functionality, value for money.
I bought it after a lot of online research. It seemed to be the only bracket that allowed for total movement of the flip screen of my camera. The offset design is just common sense, well engineered allowing full access to all camera ports and lens controls. Added bonus in my mind is it works extremely well as a left hand side handle/grip. Purchasing was easy and delivery was prompt. Highly recommend this L bracket.
