3/8"-16 mounting thread cut in steel, nickel-chrome plated insert, ensures that thread will remain in good condition almost indefinitely, as opposed to all other designs that have threads cut directly in the aluminum body of the clamp, rending it useless once the threads wear out in the aluminum.
Solid strong ProMediaGear Arca-Swiss quick release clamps on all my tripods and two monopods. This 3/8”-16 bushing should be included along with the 1/4” that comes with the clamp. I for one would rather pay the extra $5-$7.00 and have the option for both. Not a huge inconvenience to order the 3/8” separately, but just another something else to do. Otherwise would have given 5 stars. Nothing beats ProMediaGear as to quality by every metric.
Hi Dr. Adleman,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us!
Your suggestion regarding the inclusion of a 3/8”-16 bushing alongside the 1/4” screw is greatly appreciated. Apparently, the clamp only comes with 1/4”-20 screw. But we do offer the 3/8”-16 screw as an accessory on our website at when you go to the clamp's product page, allowing you to customize your order according to your needs.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and once again, thank you for your support and your valuable input.
If you have any further suggestions or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,

Required to adapt to a 3/8 thread. Hardened steel and fits perfect in the ProMedia clamp, I wish they would package it with the clamp in case the user requires it, a few dollars extra for the versatility when needed vs paying more later.
Well machined, fit perfectly. What I like most about PMG Clamps is the SS inserts that provide an extra strong foundation for my equipment.
I must admit I have not used this product extensively but when I have it is well made and a pleasure to work with.
These pieces are required for the clamp to fasten to anything. I got the clamp pair, but it only came with one insert of each size. So I got spare inserts of each size. They are a bit expensive for what looks about like a big nut, but they're made in USA. The quality seems about as good as the clamps, which is to say superlative. These inserts fit the clamp like they were made for it, which I guess they were. Anyway you might want to get a spare before you absolutely have to, the clamps are almost useless without them. I like the flexibility of two sizes, and these steel inserts seem way less likely to strip out during use than just aluminum.
