Sony has announced its latest camera - the new Sony A7R V. The upcoming camera features a 61-megapixel sensor and 8k video capabilities.
Headlining the camera's specs is the Sony AI processing, which the company boasts as the next level when it comes to autofocus and AI body tracking.
Moreover, the Sony A7R V features the new BIONZ XR image processor. It has a 35mm full frame back illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and in-body image stabilization.
Sony A7R V boasts new AI feature
Sony has a new dedicated AI processing unit. The smart AI feature lets the focus detect cars, trains, people, animal, planes, and even insects.
The new subject detection also has the "human pose estimation." In turn, the camera knows how to anticipate and track the human eye accurately. This is done by determining 20 different points in the human body as basis.
According to the company, the new Sony AF system can accurately focus on the subject's eyes even if it is partially obscured or covered for a brief moment.
Sony states, "the combination of the high-resolution sensor and these processors enables new breakthroughs in subject recognition and capture for both still photography and video."
The Sony A7R V has a hybrid AF system with 693 phase detection points.

The Sony A7R V has a full frame sensor with a max resolution of 9504 x 6336. It has an ISO range of 100 - 32000 but expandable to 50 - 102400.
The image stabilization can do up to 8 stops. The A7R IV has a burst mode of up to 10 fps with full AF/AE tracking.
Moreover, the video capabilities consists of 8K recording at 24p (cropped), 4K up to 60p or 4K downsampled from 6.2K. Videos can be recorded in XAVC S, XAVC HS, XAVC S, MP4 AVC, H.264, and H.265.
Battery life is expected at 440 shots through the viewfinder or 530 shots if done through the screen.
The Sony A7R V features a rear display that not only swings out, but swivels as well. This allows for many unique angles to shoot from.
Price and Availability
The Sony Alpha A7R V will arrive this December. It will have a retail price of $3,900 USD.
