Overview

Meet the TR424 Pro-Stix—the compact, do-it-all carbon fiber tripod built for photographers who need heavy-duty stability in a carry-friendly size.

Strength in a Smaller Package

The TR424 supports up to 125 lb (56 kg)—enough for long lenses, cinema rigs, or panoramic heads—without a hint of flex. Its 42 mm leg diameter matches larger sticks, but the 4-section design folds to just 21.25 in (54 cm) for easy transport.

Ready for Any Angle

Go from ground-level 6 in macro work to 58 in (147 cm) overhead shots without a wobble-prone center column. Three independent leg-angle stops lock in securely on uneven terrain.

Modular Apex = Endless Options

The removable flat top plate accepts any 3/8"-16 head out of the box. Swap in the TRB75 75 mm leveling bowl (or other accessories) to tailor the tripod to video, stills, or astro workflows in seconds.

Built to Survive the Elements

Sealed twist locks keep out grit, 10-layer carbon tubes shrug off vibration, and included spikes bite into ice or soil. Whether you’re chasing storms or shooting snow-covered peaks, the TR424 is unfazed.

Hand-built in the USA and covered by a 5-year warranty, this tripod is designed to be the last compact heavy-duty support you’ll ever need.

TR42 Series Core Features
What is the difference between the 34 Series and the 42 Series Tripods?

The ProMediaGear Pro-Stix tripods come in two series: the 34 series with 34mm top tubes and the 42 series with giant 42mm top tubes.

The 34 Series is designed for portability in mind without sacrificing load capacity.

Meanwhile, the 42 Series tripods are rated for heavier loads but at the expense of portability since they are larger to carry around.

Can I use a tripod head from other brands?

Yes, ProMediaGear tripods use standard tripod mounts so you can use any tripod head you want.

But, it's better to have a ProMediaGear tripod head with you for superior quality you can trust.

Will this tripod work in freezing temperatures?

Our tripods are heavily tested in extreme environments.

Whether it is under the extreme heat or freezing temperatures, rest assured that our tripods can handle any task.

wow

Far exceeds all my personal expectations. Upgrades were overdue and was so close to purchasing the equivalent with the RRS legs however was convinced in this direction. The design and build quality is exceptional and look forward to putting some miles on these, no regrets. And US made!

Solid and Strong

This is a great tripod, as it is solid and strong. I have not yet used it extensively, but in my test recording birds in flight, I felt confident that I would not experience vibrations as I moved my setup in various directions.

While I believe that the leg locks work well to secure the leg segments in place, I wish they were a bit easier to grip. For me, they would be better if they were slightly larger (in length and circumference) and had a surface that is less slippery, such as rubber instead of plastic.

I am greatly looking forward to adding the center column TR42C when it again becomes available. I prefer tripods with center columns as they allow for much more rapid height adjustment in the field.

Absolutely Awesome Tripod

Having used a variety of premium tripods from Gitzo and RRS, I rank the PMG tripods the finest in quality and usability.

Media

I've been shooting a Nikon D750 with the TR424 58" tripod base and BH50 pmg head. The carbon pattern is cool. Stable as a rock even in decent wind. Fairly light to pack over trails. When i put the head on the base, i thought hmmm, i could have got the smaller version since this head looks a little underwhelming with the wide topped sticks. But i like it for being over built. Feels secure holding 300mm with 1.4 tele being my longest lens, so far. After shooting in sand, i took all the legs apart for cleaning with no issues. What's missing? I'd like to see not only made in USA, but also "Made In Chicago" on pmg products like so much of my stuff as a boy growing up in Gary. Customer service has been prompt and helpful. Dave
