ProMediaGear GK Katana Gimbal Head Overview

ProMediaGear prides itself on the GK Katana Gimbal Head. It is the result of innovating from the ground up. The company's goal is to create a gimbal head that is smooth and durable. This is the result of our hard work.

The GK Katana gimbal head operates smoothly without sacrificing durability. It works well with large super-telephoto lenses without any problems. Definitely, it handles beastly lenses from Canon, Nikon, and other manufacturers easily. You name the camera setup, and this bad boy can handle it.

More than that, it is durable. ProMediaGear researched the finest materials available in the market. In the end, we ended up using aircraft-grade aluminum. It is lightweight, durable, and gets the job done.

The ProMediaGear Katana supports camera setups of up to 150 lbs. It has an Arca-swiss clamp for any compatible quick-release plate.

Moreover, there are separate locking and adjustment mechanisms available for precise movements. In addition, it is even possible to adjust the camera and lens position with just one hand. This makes it easier to use outdoors.

Why choose the GK Katana gimbal head?

Essential for Outdoor Photography - This gimbal head helps in taking beautiful photographs with your telephoto lens. Shooting moving subjects such as wildlife with the Katana is more stable. Besides that, a gimbal head provides better control when shooting outdoors.

Precise and Smooth Panning - The ProMediaGear Katana is one of the best tripod heads in the market. This gimbal moves smoothly when tracking subjects. Panning is easier too with its tight locking mechanism.

As mentioned earlier, the smooth and precise movement does not falter even with a heavy setup. The friction and locking mechanisms adjust with ease. Clearly, it does not cause any instability or loosening of its lens mounts.

Perfect for any setup - Gimbal heads are often used by wildlife and sports photographers. But it is not exclusive to them. You may use the GK Katana with any setup. Also, it is compatible with any camera brand with an Arca-compatible quick-release plate.

Built to last - ProMediaGear creates the Katana out of lightweight aircraft quality aluminum. The hard-anodized finish is scratch-resistant too.

The steel ball-bearings last a long time as well. Basically, you can consider this product maintenance-free. Just wipe it clean after every use and it is good to go for another shoot.

Shop with confidence - ProMediaGear offers a 5-year warranty on its products. If you are not satisfied with our product, we offer a full refund.

However, you may feel free to reach us as well for problems encountered. This product is completely made in the USA.

Fabulous Product

I’ve had a cheap Gimbal Head for some time and decided I needed something more sturdy. The GK Katana is heavy but extremely well built. I love it of my old Nikkor 2.8 400mm and new 5.6 200-500. The fit and finish is perfect. The ease of use is spectacular compared to the cheap one. I love it and can’t believe I was too cheap to buy it in the first place.

Great quality. Smooth action. Love it.

GK Katana is the best gimbal head I have worked with. The engineering and precision fit of the components are solid. CNC machining makes this a thing of beauty. It takes some getting use to. I'm not use to having this much control of the vertical horizontal axis when setting up for a shoot. This is a game changer for me. Well Done!

This is one of the best photography items we have purchased in all of our years in business. It is well made, has considerable thought behind the design as it works perfectly with the tripods we have, not to mention, a perfect mate for the big ProMediaGear heavy duty tripod. There are several different Gimbal units on the market today. To me, this is the absolute best, the real professional unit of the litter.

Bought this gimbal some years ago, it accompanied me on trips to the Antarctic, Alaska, the Sahara, Africa, Asia etc. It looks pretty knocked up because I'm not cautious with my gear but it still functions like new. There's just own downside and that's it's a brick compared to its lighter advesary's but if you want stability and everlasting quality for a 600 or 800mm it's best in class.
