This is one solid and well made tripod. It works great with the ProMediaGear ball head!

    TR344L Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Tripod

Along with this tripod I also purchased the BH1 Ballhead and the TR34C Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Center Column. I wish I had done this years ago. I have been using, until now, a Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod and ballhead and there is nothing 'wrong' with it (I had been using it since 2004) and it still functions well but it always felt a bit light. The TR344L is sturdier, stable and so nice to look at and I don't worry that a stiff wind will send everything to the ground. I love having the optional spikes for loose ground. The ballhead stays where it is set as it should. I never realized how much I was settling for until I received this tripod and head. Merry Christmas to me!

    A fantastic tripod

I purchased this tripod because I needed something bigger than the other two tripods I own, both from Really Right Stuff. That's a great company too, but supply chain issues got in the way and there was no way I would be able to purchase the one I wanted before a planned astrophotography workshop I was attending. I tried a Gitzo but didn't like the quality compared to RRS so sent it back. Then I discovered ProMediaGear on YouTube and the more I looked and researched the more I liked what I saw. I ordered it directly from ProMediaGear and it shipped the next day. I had a RRS BH-55 ballhead that I put on it and it fit easily. I can honestly say that this is now my favorite tripod. It performed flawlessly in the field and the sky shots were superb. I've used up to a 70-200mm lens on it and the shots are super sharp. I look forward to using this tripod in the future, and down the road will try it with a ProMediaGear ballhead.

    A Perfect General Purpose Tripod

The TR344L hits the sweet spot for my needs for wide angle to medium telephoto lenses, and pro-size bodies. Everything about this tripod is perfectly executed — it is a pleasure to use. You really can not go wrong with ProMediaGear. If you appreciate quality engineering, American-made products, attentive customer service, and dealing directly with the manufacturer, then PMG should be your choice.

    Almost perfect

For my work, the TR344L hits a size/weight sweet spot that’s hard to beat. I love having the extra height and stability when I need it without without ever feeling like I’m caring a large tripod or sacrificing mobility. I bought the TR344L to replace my aging Gitzo and decision to switch brands was not easy. Ultimately it was a size/specs issue that tipped the scale and I’m so happy that I chose PMG. The build quality is outstanding. Light, fast, smooth movements. Loads of thoughtful details like hidden spikes, accessory ports and those little rotation locks where you adjust the leg tension—brilliant. The apex is beautifully machined. No doubt this tripod will hold up for many years. The only negative for me are the metal twist locks. I really wish they had used standard rubber grips. The metal pattern is harder to grip and takes some time to get used to. It might be a nonissue if you setup your tripod at a working height and don’t recompose frequently—but if you move around a lot durning a photoshoot (i.e. art director on set) the twist locks can be very annoying. It’s not a deal breaker. But if PMG someday released an updated version with rubber grips, I would replace my current PMG asap. Otherwise a perfect tripod and a very happy customer.
