Overview

The ProMediaGear PLXN1 Lens Foot Replacement works with the Nikkor 200-400mm f/4, Nikkor 400mm f/2.8 AF-S, Nikkor 500mm f/4 AF-S II, AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4D IF-ED II and VR lenses. It connects to a strap through the included SS2 or QD Strap port.

This lens foot is made of T6061 aluminum. It is CNC precision-machined making it fit seamlessly. The material used also means that it is lightweight yet durable for heavy lenses.

The PLXN2 is designed to accommodate carabiners and safety hooks so your equipment does not fall in case of accidents.

Replacement Lens Foot

The description really didn’t elaborate on whether this foot would fit my Nikon 600mm f4G ED VR lens but it does. This was my first purchase from ProMedia Gear and I was a little skeptical. I mainly purchased this product because it utilizes a QD and no other manufacturers are supplying the QD for this old of a lens. It sets the lens a little higher than necessary however, it turns out that to balance this lens in a gimbal, the foot is as far back as the front safety stop will allow. If I add any weight to the camera such as a battery grip the lens and foot will be able to be moved forward to obtain balance. Also, this keeps all the weight on the strongest part of the foot. I was concerned about handholding this lens with the higher foot but the extra height and slim design makes it very comfortable. Also, the cutout in the foot makes it extremely easy to attach a safety tether for carrying camera and lens with a sling which is why I wanted the QD. Machining and design are perfect. Great job PMG and thanks for supplying a foot for older equipment.
