Overview

The ProMediaGear TR424 Pro-STix carbon fiber tripod is the smaller sibling of the TR424L tripod.

The TR424 has a max height of 58 inches and a minimum height of 6 inches. Surely, it is still taller compared to the other tripods in the market. But, it remains to be lightweight.

That being said, the TR424 professional tripod supports cameras and lenses of up to 125 lbs. You can place any of your heavy setups and it will have no problems. Moreover, the top plate is modular. It transforms via accessories like the ProMediaGear TRB75 75mm Leveling Bowl insert.

The ProMediaGear 42 Series tripods have 42mm diameter legs. It only weighs 5.9 lbs or 2700 grams. Also, this model has 4 sections. Thus, it has a smaller folded length of 21.25 inches.

It is not the lightest tripod out there. But, the carbon fiber legs have 10 layers in a cross-weave pattern. The three adjustable locking angles allow for any shooting position. Ultimately, the carbon layer makes it lightweight and durable.

Moreover, you can use this heavy-duty tripod in any terrain imaginable. Whether it is raining, windy, sunny, or snowing, this tripod can handle it. Basically, it can withstand the toughest conditions out there.

The tripod apex has a safety lock button for your setup. Plus, it features a standard tripod mounting thread for universal compatibility. It fits ball heads, gimbal heads, and other accessories snugly. In addition, there are multiple 1/4-20 threaded adapters for extra accessories.

Lastly, the tripod feet have built-in spikes for outdoor use. The regular rubber feet are perfect for indoor usage. But, the inclusion of spikes makes it a versatile tripod.

ProMediaGear manufactures its entier carbon fiber tripod lineup in Tinley Park, IL, USA. This includes the TR424 Carbon Fiber Tripod. Finally, shop with confidence as all products come with a 5-year warranty.

wow

Far exceeds all my personal expectations. Upgrades were overdue and was so close to purchasing the equivalent with the RRS legs however was convinced in this direction. The design and build quality is exceptional and look forward to putting some miles on these, no regrets. And US made!

Solid and Strong

This is a great tripod, as it is solid and strong. I have not yet used it extensively, but in my test recording birds in flight, I felt confident that I would not experience vibrations as I moved my setup in various directions.

While I believe that the leg locks work well to secure the leg segments in place, I wish they were a bit easier to grip. For me, they would be better if they were slightly larger (in length and circumference) and had a surface that is less slippery, such as rubber instead of plastic.

I am greatly looking forward to adding the center column TR42C when it again becomes available. I prefer tripods with center columns as they allow for much more rapid height adjustment in the field.

Absolutely Awesome Tripod

Having used a variety of premium tripods from Gitzo and RRS, I rank the PMG tripods the finest in quality and usability.

I've been shooting a Nikon D750 with the TR424 58" tripod base and BH50 pmg head. The carbon pattern is cool. Stable as a rock even in decent wind. Fairly light to pack over trails. When i put the head on the base, i thought hmmm, i could have got the smaller version since this head looks a little underwhelming with the wide topped sticks. But i like it for being over built. Feels secure holding 300mm with 1.4 tele being my longest lens, so far. After shooting in sand, i took all the legs apart for cleaning with no issues. What's missing? I'd like to see not only made in USA, but also "Made In Chicago" on pmg products like so much of my stuff as a boy growing up in Gary. Customer service has been prompt and helpful. Dave
